Day 7 - Darwin, Australia
From the Navigator - This morning, Dawn Princess will make her approach to Darwin. Darwin's harbor was first sighted in 1839 by John Lort Stokes of HMS Beagle. The ship's captain, John Clements Wickham, named the port after Charles Darwin, the British naturalist, who had sailed with him on an earlier expedition on the Beagle. This evening when all passengers and crew are back onboard we will let go our lines and retrace our tracks out of the harbor.
We enjoyed our day in Darwin. Darwin can be hot and humid, but we had a great day with sunshine and low humidity. Darwin is famous for the salt water jumping crocodiles, they will jump almost their whole body length out of the water to reach their prey. We rented a car and spent the day touring with our friends, Joanne and Garry. We visited the Botanical Gardens, Military Museum, Cullen's Bay, toured downtown and ended our day at the Crocosaurus Cove. We watched the croc feeding and then watched our friends enter the cage of death and then they were lowered into three different crocodile enclosure's all the way down into the water. Great to watch. Lol. Four sea days and then the next Port Singapore!
